Bali Peduli Update – New Clinic and New Staff
12 February 2016
In early January we were at last able to open a new clinic in Denpasar – the Paul Latourell Bali Peduli Clinic.
In January 2016, in its first month of operation, this new clinic has seen 53 new patients. Of these, 15 tested positive for HIV and are now able to access the treatment they need through the clinic.
This clinic was made possible by the generous donation from the family of the late Paul Latourell of the remainder of the lease of house in Denpasar to turn into a clinic. Paul was a founding member and strong supporter of Bali Peduli.
The establishment of the clinic would not have been possible without the generous donations from our supporters who pledged funds at Bali Peduli’s annual fundraiser at La Lucciola in October 2015.
Dr. Yogi Prasetia is working at the Paul Latourell Bali Peduli Clinic part-time and continues his private practice at Bali Media.
Many of the attendees at the La Lucciola benefit pledged funds toward the costs of the additional staff needed to run this new clinic. Others donated towards staff cost in Ubud.
We are pleased to announce that many of these new staff have now been hired and it is our pleasure to introduce them to you;
Dr. Herru Adriansyah, Doctor
Dr Herru completed a medical degree at the University of Jember in 2010. After graduating, he worked as a government doctor in Wamena, Papua. In 2013 he joined the Clinton Health Access Initiative as a program officer with the Rapidly Expanding Access to Care for HIV (REACH) program. He is now working with Bali Peduli, heading up our operation in our Ubud Clinic, Klinik Anggrek at Puskesmas Sayan II.
Dr. Hendry Luis, Doctor
Dr. Hendry Luis is now heading up the Paul Latourell Bali Peduli Clinic. Dr. Hendry has been working with Bali Peduli as a substitute doctor. We are pleased he can remain with Bali Peduli in this new capacity.
Yudi Lukmandani (Dani), Outreach worker
Dani joined us in January 2016. He was previously working with Yayasan Gaya Dewata as a field officer and counsellor from 2010 – 2015.
Yandi Wahyudi (Yudi), Outreach worker
Before joining Bali Peduli’s outreach team, Yudi was working with Yayasan Gaya Dewata’s ‘Condom Man’ initiative from 2011 – 2015. Whilst working with Yayasan Gaya Dewata, he also gained experience as outreach worker.
Wawan Wahyudi (Billy), Outreach Worker
Billy has joined Bali Peduli as a member of the outreach team. Prior to joining Bali Peduli, he was working as a pharmacist from 2013 – 2014.
Pande Made Darmawan, Nurse
Pande has joined Bali Peduli as a nurse in our Ubud clinic, Klinik Anggrek. Pande completed professional nurse training at STIKES Wira Medika PPNI Bali in 2015.
With this high calibre team now on board, we look forward to expanding our HIV services in 2016.
